Making OTUs from different gene regions
Can we make OTUs from different V regions?
This test uses full-length 16S sequences from the
Greengenes database.
Three different segments are extracted: V3, V4 and V3-V5 using primer pairs
commonly used in tag sequencing experiments.
We can now ask if an OTU method assigns different regions of the same full-length sequence to the same cluster. If the method works well, fragments of the same gene should be assigned to the same OTU. See Greengenes fragment test results.
