A taxonomy tree file is a tab-separated text file with four fields. By convention, taxonomy free files have the .tt extension.
| Field | Description | |
| 1 | Integer specifying a
node in the tree. |
|
| 2 | Integer specifying the
parent node (or -1 if this is the root). |
|
| 3 | Taxonomic name. Use
"Root" for the root node. |
|
| 4 | Name of the taxonomic
level (phylum, class, genus, etc.). All nodes at a given taxonomic level must be
the same distance from the root. The root level name is "rootrank". |
