USEARCH v11

Installing multiple versions of usearch

You can install more than one version of the usearch binary on the same machine. This will not cause compatibility issues with the binaries themselves because they have no dependencies and so will not interfere with each other. Of course, there may be differences in supported command-line options, in which case wrapper scripts might work with some versions and not others.

If you do install more than one version, then you'll need a way of keeping track and making sure that you're running the correct version in a given situation. You could keep the original long file names, rename the binaries so that they have shorter names that are different, e.g. usearch6 and usearch7, use the full path name, e.g. /usr/bin/usearch6.0.123, /usr/bin/usearch7.0.1002, or use any other convenient method.
